About

I was born and raised in Los Angeles California, most years in the San Fernando Valley. Bought my first camera in early 1980, a Chinon CM3. I started photographing the Los Angeles punk rock scene at local clubs: The Whisky A Go-Go, The Starwood, Godzilla’s, Cathay de Grande, Hong Kong Café and the much larger venues such as the Stardust Ballroom, Devonshire Downs, The Olympic Auditorium and The Vex. My first photo shoot was at The Starwood in March of 1980 where Fear and The Plugz played. I continued shooting various punk bands up to early 1983. In Auguest of 1983 I moved to Eugene Oregon and no longer owned a camera. I occassionally showed the photos I had taken of the L.A. punk scene. For the next 20 years the photos and negatives remained in boxes stored away. In 2003 I had my first punk rock photo exhibit at a local coffee shop in SE Portland Oregon. A year later I had another exhibit in Eugene Oregon with photographer Eileen Polk who had photographed the punk/new wave scene in New York 1975-1980. Since then I have had a few more exhibits in Portland. At this point in time I make these photos available to you, those who have an interest in old school punk rock and understand the cultural significance of punk rock as it continues to evolve many years later.
